Entry Specifications

For each period, Japanese songs are extracted from regional consumption data compiled by Luminate (Streaming, Downloads, and Music Video) for the eligible countries/regions listed below. A regional chart is then created excluding consumption within Japan, and the top 50 songs on this chart are selected.

After all seven periods have concluded, the songs extracted from each period are combined and ranked by points. Duplicate entries are removed by retaining only the highest point total for each song. The top 5 songs are designated as Nominees, and the number one ranked song overall is designated as the Award Winner.
