For each period, Japanese songs are extracted from global consumption data compiled by Luminate (Streaming, Downloads, and Music Video). A global chart is then created excluding consumption within Japan, and the top 100 songs on this chart are selected.
After all seven periods have concluded, the songs extracted from each period are combined and ranked by points. Duplicate entries are removed by retaining only the highest point total for each song, and the top 100 songs are designated as Entry Works.
※The entry work eligibility criteria do not apply to this category. All songs are considered regardless of their digital or physical release dates.
※Only songs by domestic artists are eligible.
Five nominees will be determined through voting by Spotify’s international listeners using Spotify’s voting feature.
All Overseas Voting Members will participate in the voting.
Each voter will rank up to three works from among the nominees. Points will be allocated as follows. First place 4 points, second place 2 points, third place 1 point.
※Voters may rank up to three works. Ranking fewer than three is permitted.
※Self selection is permitted and duplicate selections are not allowed.
※If multiple songs by the same artist are nominated, the number of nominated works will be increased until five different artists are represented.
Artists, creators involved in lyrics, composition, and arrangement, producers, recording engineers, mixing engineers, mastering engineers, musicians, directors, managers, and A&R representatives.
